About me

  • Pediatric emergency physician who trained in Australia, Switzerland, and Germany. Worked as a consultant in pediatric emergency medicine (PEM) in Australia and Switzerland before resuming her current position as PEM consultant at the pediatric emergency department (PED), Astrid Lindgrens children’s hospital, Karolinska university hospital, Stockholm, Sweden. Key professional areas of interest are research and I have a MD by thesis, Charité university, D-Berlin and a post-doctoral docent qualification (Habilitation) in PEM, University of CH-Bern, as well as multiple publications, international presentations, grant funding and awards; clinical excellence, mentorship and simulation-based education and I hold a qualification in Harvard Medical Simulation Instructor course graduate certification and I have co-founded and am chair of the international Kindersimulation e.V. network. I am dynamic, resilient, approachable, and passionate about my vision to promote excellent care in PEM.

     

Research

  • Improvement of pediatric emergency care, and patient safety, and the use of simulation-based training as a means to enhance acute care for children. 

Teaching

  • Supervision of over 10 medical students in their research work, resulting in joint publications. Supervision, informal and formal, of medical students during clinical placements, where formal feedback is provided on history taking, clinical examinations of children, interviews with guardians, SBAR, and case management planning. Course coordinator and clinical supervisor and I have taught general paediatric examination techniques, assessment of psychomotor development and clinical examination (cardiac, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, skin,
    skeletal). Faculty for simulation based paediatric emergency training CAMST, Karolinska Hospital, and PAEDSIM e.V. (German-speaking
    association promoting simulation in paediatrics). I have taught at numerous beginner and advanced simulation instructor courses, simulation conference courses and workshops. I believe in the importance of non-judgemental feedback, both in simulation contexts and during practical training.

    Founding member of the Kindersimulation e.V. network (association promoting simulation in paediatrics) and have published guidelines for high quality simulation training.
