About me

  • In my work as a pediatric orthopedic surgeon over the past 25 years, I have encountered children with many different types of disabilities, and this has become my primary area of interest in research as well as clinical practice. In our department, in addition to the standard examination tools and methods, we also have the opportunity to assess different movement difficulties/abnormalities using three-dimensional motion analysis. Through data analysis of video recordings, we can obtain objective information regarding, e. g., range of motion and joint loading, which facilitates proposing or evaluating different types of treatment.

Research

  • Cerebral palsy (CP) is considered the most common motor disability in children, and in Sweden, through the national quality registry CPUP (Cerebral Palsy Follow-Up Program), we have collected a unique dataset concerning children and adults with CP. I have been involved in CPUP since the early 2000s, and the main focus of my current research concerns registry-based studies of orthopedic surgeries in children and adults with CP. My research interests also include three-dimensional motion analysis, primarily in individuals with movement difficulties or abnormalities.
