Ola Kvist
About me
Ola Kvist is an attending in pediatric radiology and former head of the pediatric radiology department at Karolinska University Hospital. He is currently holding a position at Columbia University Imaging Center, New York, but remains affiliated to Karolinska Institute to continue his ongoing research here.
Research
Ola Kvist research focuses on bone growth and different imaging techniques can be used to better understand normal and abnormal bone growth. He is currently part of Columbia's Skeletal Growth Imaging Lab with the goal to validate DTI-P/M as a biomarker for growth, with implications for assessing response to growth hormone therapy and facilitating decisions about surgical approaches to common pediatric orthopedic conditions.
A secondary area of interest is how similar imagaing techniques can be used to assess skeletal muscle mass and function. This has a focus on activity together with Ferdinand Von Walden and his research group, especially PhD student Linnea Correll. As well as inactivity, unloading and microgravity together with Mirko Mandic and Rodrigo Fernandez Gonzalo.
Teaching
Ola Kvist general competence area is pediatric radiology.
Since 2018, Ola has been the course responsible (kursansvarig) for the SK-kurs in pediatric radiology for residents in radiology in Sweden.
Since 2019 been involved in European Society of Pediatric Radiology and board member since 2020. He has been involved in numerous teaching activities in pediatric radiology in Sweden and abroad.
