About me
Dr Niklas Lidströmer – Karolinska Institutet
MD, MSc | Specialist Physician | Senior Researcher in AI in Medicine | Senior AdvisorI am a specialist physician, senior researcher, and advisor with extensive experience in AI-driven medical innovation and investments. Over the past two decades, I have worked clinically in eight countries, gaining a broad global perspective on healthcare and technology.
After earning an MSc in 2000 and an MD in 2002, I pursued internships, specialised residencies, and clinical work worldwide, including a year as a maritime doctor during a global circumnavigation. My international experience, fluency in multiple languages, and practical engagement with AI in medicine have fostered a strong passion for the translational and educational aspects of artificial intelligence in healthcare.
I edited 'Artificial Intelligence in Medicine' (Springer Nature), the largest and most comprehensive reference work in the field (130 chapters, 1, 858 pages). This book has become the new standard reference in AI and medicine, featuring a foreword by Professor Eric Topol, ranked as the #1 most influential MD in the United States. I also co-edited 'Artificial Intelligence in Covid-19' (Springer Nature) alongside Professor Yonina C. Eldar, with a foreword by MIT and Harvard professor James J. Collins.
As a senior advisor, I have worked with United Bankers, DXC, and AI companies such as FLO and Acorai. I also founded an AI-powered medical platform and have been involved in several other ventures at the intersection of medicine, AI, and investment.
