MD, MSc | Specialist Physician | Senior Researcher in AI in Medicine | Senior AdvisorDr Niklas Lidströmer is a specialist physician, senior researcher, and advisor with two decades of international experience in AI-driven medical innovation, clinical medicine, and strategic investments. His career spans clinical practice in eight countries, offering a unique global perspective on healthcare systems and digital transformation.
He holds an MSc (2000) and an MD (2002), followed by specialised residencies and global clinical assignments – including a year as a maritime doctor during a round-the-world voyage. Fluent in several languages, he is deeply engaged in the translational and educational potential of artificial intelligence in medicine.
Dr Lidströmer is the editor of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (Springer Nature), the most comprehensive reference work in the field, comprising 130 chapters and 1, 858 pages, with a foreword by Professor Eric Topol. He also co-edited Artificial Intelligence in Covid-19 with Professor Yonina C. Eldar, featuring a foreword by MIT and Harvard professor James J. Collins.
He has advised organisations such as United Bankers, DXC Technology, and multiple AI ventures including FLO and Acorai, where he served as Chief Medical Officer. He is also the founder of an AI-powered medical platform and continues to be active at the intersection of clinical practice, AI, and investment.
Research
Artificial intelligence in medicine. AI in an ethical, regulatory and policy context. AI in the environment of pandemic handling and prediction. AI associated technology such as federated learning, blockchain and cloud computing.
