About me

  • My major interest is the investigation of the genetic factors of complex
traits in humans, mostly respiratory diseases.
Despite my background in genomics and transcriptomics of the response to
asthma medications, my research experience is progressively broadening to
other approaches with genetics in a central position in the attempt to better
understand the molecular mechanisms underlying the accelerated decline in
lung function in patients with childhood asthma and the persistence of the
    disease until adult life.
Specifically, the combination of genomics and proteomics in different
asthma-related traits and the exploration of genetic determinants of lung
function across the lifespan through the estimation of polygenic risk scores
of different respiratory traits are my main current focuses.
