About me

  • I am an Assistant Professor (Research) in the Department of Women's and Children's Health, where my work is centered on pioneering research in female infertility and reproductive health.

    Research Focus

My research is dedicated to understanding the intricate biological processes underlying female infertility, with a particular emphasis on conditions such as Endometriosis and Adenomyosis. Through advanced cell cultures, genomics, and bioinformatics, my team and I strive to uncover new insights and develop non-invasive diagnostic procedures that can transform patient care.

    Academic and Professional Background

I earned my Ph.D. in Medicine and have since built a robust career marked by significant contributions to the field of reproductive medicine. Prior to joining Karolinska Institute in 2017, I served as an Assistant Professor of Physiology at M.R. Medical College in India, where I developed a strong foundation in teaching and research.

Research

  • My research interests are deeply rooted in understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying female infertility and reproductive health disorders. My work is characterized by a multidisciplinary approach, integrating advanced cell culture techniques, genomics, bioinformatics, and molecular biology to unravel the complexities of gynecological diseases.

  • Key Areas of Focus:

  • 1. Female Infertility and Reproductive Health

    • Investigating the biological and genetic factors contributing to infertility.
    • Developing non-invasive diagnostic methods to improve fertility treatments.
    • Studying endometrial receptivity and embryo implantation processes.

  • 2. Advanced Cell Culture Techniques

    • Utilizing 3D cell cultures and organoid models to mimic the in vivo environment.
    • Developing human embryo culture systems to study early developmental stages.
    • Innovating new methods for high-throughput screening and drug testing.

  • 3. Genomics and Transcriptomics

    • Applying next-generation sequencing and single-cell sequencing to study gene expression.
    • Analyzing genomic data to identify genetic variations associated with reproductive disorders.
    • Integrating multi-omics data to gain comprehensive insights into cellular functions.

  • 4. Bioinformatics and Computational Biology

    • Leveraging advanced machine learning algorithms for predictive modeling in reproductive health.
    • Performing statistical data analysis to interpret complex biological datasets.
    • Developing computational tools for the analysis of high-throughput sequencing data.

  • My research aims to bridge the gap between fundamental science and clinical applications, ultimately improving patient outcomes and advancing the field of reproductive medicine. Through collaboration and innovation, I strive to contribute to the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies that can transform the lives of individuals affected by reproductive health issues.

Teaching

  • With a strong foundation in medical education, I have had the privilege of teaching medical physiology to both medicine and dental students. This experience honed my ability to convey complex physiological concepts in an engaging and comprehensible manner. Currently, as an Assistant Professor (Research) at the Karolinska Institute, I continue to integrate cutting-edge research into my teaching. My teaching philosophy is centered on fostering a dynamic and supportive learning environment that encourages critical thinking, active participation, and the practical application of scientific knowledge. Through personalized mentorship and innovative teaching methods, I strive to equip my students with the skills and passion needed to excel in their academic and professional endeavors.
