About me

  • Nada Hanna is a distinguished expert in environmental antimicrobial resistance (AMR), health systems and policy, with a robust foundation in pharmacy and pharmaceutical chemistry. Her professional journey spans academia, national government, private sector, and the United Nations system.
She is a postdoctoral researcher in Health System and Policy at the Department of Global Public Health at Karolinska Institutet, Nada's academic accomplishments are notable. Her PhD thesis, "Integrated Assessment of Environmental and Human Health Risks of Antibiotic Residues and Resistance for Environmental and Health Policy, " presents a groundbreaking integrated assessment of environmental and human health risks associated with antibiotic residues and resistance. This work, particularly relevant to the Western Pacific and South-East Asia Regions of the WHO, with a focus on China and India, has contributed significantly to the prioritization of antibiotics for remediation and the development of environmental and health policy (ki.se) [1].

In the realm of Environmental Medicine and Global Public Health, Nada has made her mark through her involvement in significant research projects both nationally and internationally. Her expertise contributed to a pivotal WHO project examining "Antibiotic Residues in the Aquatic Environment of the South-East Asia Region of the WHO: A Risk Factor for Antibiotic Resistance."
