Michail Klontzas

Michail (Mike) Klontzas works as Assistant Professor of Radiology at the School of Medicine of the University of Crete (Greece). He is affiliated researcher with Karolinska Institutet (CLINTEC). He serves as advisory editor for the European Journal of Radiology Artificial Intelligence, section editor of the European Journal of Radiology, Associate Editor of "Radiology: Artificial Intelligence” (RSNA) and has served in the trainee editorial board of RadioGraphics (RSNA). Dr Klontzas is a member of the ESR eHealth and Informatics Subcommittee, member of the ESR Research Committee, member of the EIBIR Future Strategy Task Force, board member and secretary of the Scientific Committee of EuSoMII . He has published more than 130 PubMed-indexed articles, 11 book chapters for international publishers and is editing the books “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence” and "Sustainability of AI in Radiology" published by Springer under the auspices of EuSoMII. Dr Klontzas is also a member of the CLAIM guidelines (RSNA) steering committee for the 2024 update. He also serves as a series editor for the “Imaging informatics for healthcare professionals” of Springer International. His clinical expertise focuses on diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal radiology, US- and CT-guided interventions for musculoskeletal disease and oncological imaging.

His research interests lie within musculoskeletal and oncologic imaging with emphasis on artificial intelligence, radiomics and biomedical engineering.
