An interest in oncological research with an emphasis on Ultrasound, Sentinel Nodes, Liquid Biopsies for HPV-related oropharyngeal cancer and Cutaneus Squamous Cell Carcinoma

My research is in head and neck cancer.

I have been working on how to use ultrasound to more correctly and safely diagnose tumors and also to use it during surgery to increase adequate margins. This is shown in a few published papers and at the moment I'm part of the multicenter Surgio-study to asses margins in the OR after surgery.

I'm part of a group that looks to expand the sentinel node concept to more areas in th e head and neck area.

I'm also part of studies on how to use liquid biopsies in the follow up of HPV-related oropharyngeal cancers. We have shown that this is a promising method that has high sensitivity and specificity.

I am also part of a project that looks at the patients experience in free-flap surgery for head and neck malignancies.

Cutaneous Squamous Cell Carcinoma is an area where the incidence is rising rapidly. Here I partake in projects that could decrease the extent of surgery.
