Joachim Vist

I am a PhD student at the Department of Clinical Science and Education, Södersjukhuset, Karolinska Institutet. My research focuses on acute pancreatitis and gallstone disease, using Swedish national quality registers. Alongside my doctoral studies, I am doing a research internship (forskar-AT) at Arvika Hospital, Region Värmland.

My research concerns the management of acute biliary pancreatitis, particularly how the timing of cholecystectomy affects operative outcomes and the risk of common bile duct stones. I use large nationwide cohorts from GallRiks and other Swedish registers to study questions that are difficult to address in randomised trials. I am also interested in epidemiological methods for register-based research.
