About me
I am an internal medicine specialist with an interest in critical care, especially hyponatremia. I was born in Syria in 1993 and educated at the University of Damascus, where I completed my medical degree in 2016. I performed my residency at Södersjukhuset, qualifying as a specialist in internal medicine in 2023, and I became the chief resident in the department of internal medicine in 2023. I began my PhD studies in 2021, focusing on drug-related hyponatremia.
Research
I am interested in the pharmacogenetic and epidemiological aspects, primarily concerning the side effects of drugs, with a focus on register-based research. During the COVID epidemic, I conducted a clinical study on high-flow oxygen treatment outside of intensive care units. Projects since then have included the use of the Swedish Prescribed Drug Register (SPDR) to investigate prescription patterns and their associations with clinical outcomes. I helped initiate the SSC (Stockholm Sodium Cohort), which includes clinical, laboratory, and pharmacoepidemiological data on 1.6 million people in Stockholm and has been used in many studies.
