Henrik Lindlöf
About me
My name is Henrik Lindlöf. I´m a doctoral student at Karolinska Institute, specializing in management within emergency care. In addition to my research, I serve as Head of the Emergency Medical Service and the Healthcare Alarm Center in Region Västmanland. With a background in Economics (BSc), Sociology (BSc) and Information and Communication science (MSc), I explore how operational management and leadership impact the performance of prehospital emergency care in Sweden. My research focuses on the synergy between management strategies and frontline emergency teams, aiming to understand how leadership influences the quality of care provided to patients in the field.
Research
My research interest lies in the managerial activities of healthcare organizations. I am particularly intrigued by the relationship between various leadership and management practices and the actual delivery of care, with a specific focus on the field of prehospital emergency care. More specifically, I am interested in exploring how healthcare operations can be governed in ways that are economically efficient, relationally grounded, and systemically coherent, while keeping the patient at the center and ensuring optimal conditions for healthcare professionals. This includes examining how different leadership approaches influence organizational performance, professional collaboration, and the overall quality of care in complex and dynamic healthcare environments.
In addition, I am interested in change management, as well as implementation and intervention research, particularly in relation to how new practices and innovations can be effectively introduced and sustained in healthcare settings. A further area of inquiry concerns the role of culture-bearing activities, those informal, symbolic, and often habitual practices that shape professional identity and behavior, as both potential enablers and barriers to professional excellence in the delivery of care. Understanding these cultural dynamics is essential for fostering environments where high-quality, patient-centered care can thrive.
