Hampus Holmer

I work at the intersection of global public health, diplomacy, and science — combining clinical training, academic research and policy experience to drive evidence-based strategies for health systems and global health governance.

As a public health physician with a PhD in Global Health and Surgery, I have systematically studied global surgery, obstetrics and anaesthesia from health systems data to patient outcomes. As a Fulbright-supported postdoctoral researcher at KI, including previous appointments as Visiting Scholar at Duke University and Senior Visiting Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science, I have engaged in multidisciplinary research and teaching on global health policy, non-communicable disease implementation, and health systems strengthening.

In parallel, I have gained leadership experience beyond academia: serving in senior advisory roles in global health diplomacy, shaping policy and funding strategies at the intersection of government, multilateral institutions and research — today combining these experiences as a diplomat and global health strategist.

I remain affiliated with KI’s Department of Global Public Health and continue contributing to global health research, advocacy and training — guided by a commitment to equitable, sustainable and evidence-driven health for all.

I have been engaged in the undergraduate global health course at KI since 2019, initially as an accompanying teacher in Laos and Tanzania and later as course leader in 2020. I mentor master's students at KI and occasionally lecture at other institutions.
