About me

  • I am working as a clinical pharmacologist in the healthcare system. Main
    clinical areas are pharmacological treatment of astma and COPD and adverse
    drug reactions including drug allergy.

Research

  • Asthma and COPD studies in primary care
    There are existing therapies which have shown excellent effect in clinical
    studies, but in everyday care many asthma patients achieve suboptimal
    control. We want to investigate factors that can improve the effects of
    pharmacological treatment in an everyday care setting, approaching the
    potential shown in randomized clinical trials. The present research programme
    comprises an ongoing prospective, randomized study in primary care, AQT
    (Asthma: Quality of life-guided Treatment), where the influence on asthma
    control of guiding asthma treatment using quality of life measurements is
    studied.
    Other important factors are concordance/adherence and inhalation technique.
    I am also involved in studies on the effects of asthma and its treatment on endogenous steroids as well as pharmacoepidemiological studies with focus on asthma and COPD.
    Furthermore, I'm involved in pharmacoepidemiological studies on adverse drug effects and drug-drug interactions - studies associated with my clinical work with the knowledge support provided on different types of drug-drug interactions in Janusmed interaktioner and Janusmed riskprofil.

Teaching

  • Currently, I teach clinical pharmacology for medical students at KI, which I have been doing since 2002. Now active in restructuring the course for team-based learning (TBL). I also teach pharmacology related to asthma- and COPD-treatment for several different programmes at KI. Since 2021, I am responsible for a course on pharmacovigilance and adverse drug reactions for residents.
    2006-2017 I was active in outreach visits with continuous education and "academic detailing" to general practitioners in the Stockholm region.
    During the late 1980's and 1990's I taught physiology, mainly respiratory physiology, for medical students and dentistry students at KI.
