About me

  • I am a public health researcher, consultant, and Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS). I am a registered pharmacist with an MSc in Applied Epidemiology, and I am currently pursuing a PhD by research and publication jointly at MUHAS and Karolinska Institutet. My doctoral research focuses on the impact of maternal multimorbidity and caesarean delivery on adverse maternal outcomes, using causal inference and predictive modelling approaches.

Over the years, I have contributed to national and international projects addressing maternal and child health, infectious disease surveillance, pharmacovigilance, and health systems strengthening. I have worked with organizations such as WHO, CDC, UN Women, TMDA, ICAP, and Big Win Philanthropy, serving in roles including investigator, epidemiologist, and technical consultant.

For my PhD, I will be using data from the ALERT project (Action Leveraging Evidence to reduce perinatal Mortality and morbidity in Sub-Saharan Africa), hosted by Karolinska Institutet, to develop predictive models assessing the impact of maternal multimorbidity on health outcomes.

Research

    • Maternal and neonatal health outcomes
    • Multimorbidity
    • Infectious disease epidemiology (TB, HIV, STIs)
    • Pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacovigilance
    • Causal inference and prognostic modelling
    • Key population health and surveillance systems

Teaching

  • Since 2021, I have served as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at MUHAS, where I teach core modules in public health and applied epidemiology, including:

    • Foundations of Epidemiology
    • Applied Epidemiology
