About me

  • My long-term goal is to become a next-generation leader in both science and society—an inspiring professor, a group leader pushing the frontiers of fundamental research, and an innovator transforming scientific discoveries into meaningful real-world impact.

Research

  • My main ambition is to translate the field of 3D genomics (interactomics), and in particular the study of enhanceropathies, into clinical practice. This is highly relevant, as the majority of GWAS hits are located in non-coding regulatory regions known as enhancers. However, only about one-third of enhancers regulate the nearest gene, underscoring the need for precise, cell type- and time-specific annotation of promoter–enhancer interactions. Sequence Capture Hi-C (HiCap) enables simultaneous identification of enhancers and their assignment to target genes. Using this approach, I investigate the regulatory mechanisms underlying complex diseases, including atherosclerosis and bicuspid aortic valve.

Teaching

  • I have experience as a Teaching Assistant for MSc-level courses in Applied Gene Technology and Large-Scale Data Analysis, as well as serving as a Lecturer for an introductory Molecular Biology course designed for school students.

Additionally, I co-supervised five MSc thesis projects, providing daily guidance and support.
