About me

  • Overall I am today activ as a RN Paramedic, researcher and lecturer with about 30 years experience in the prehospital emergency care field.

In the 1990s I started out as a CPR instructor, swimming instructor, surf lifeguard, surf lifeguard instructor, fireman, nurse assistant and EMT in Göteborg. As a RN and paramedic in the ambulance services (2007) I have mainly conducted research within the prehospital emergency care field  since 2008  with focus on improving survival from out-of hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) including drowning research and the use of drones as first responders (DFR) for delivery of AEDs and live-video from accident scenes to the dispatch centre.

I am very engaged in water safety, drowning prevention, rescue, first aid and CPR-training and work closely with both the Swedish resuscitation council and the Swedish lifesaving society (SLS)  in these questions. I have lead the work of digitalizing EMS-charts (AmbuLink 2003), the Swedish national cardiac arrest registry (2008), the heartrunner app (2014)  for dispatch of volunteers to OHCA. As chief editor for the Swedish resuscitation council I introduced e-learning systems in first aid, BLS and ALS (2010) on a national level for the national health care, school system and society. I was the the former chair of the Swedish CPR council (2017-2022) and Im am now present member of the international drowning researchers alliance (IDRA) (2018-) and  the Global resuscitation alliance (GRA) (2025 - ).

I am now working part-time in the ambulance services of Västra Göltalandsregionen but mainly as as Associate professor and research leader (2019) in Jacob Hollenbergs group at the centre for resuscitation science -KI/SÖS and since 2025 also the program manager for paramedic training at Karolinska Institutet Stockholm i.e RN- specialization in prehospital emergency care, the Master of Medical Science diploma (60 credits).
