About me

  • I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Division of Clinical Epidemiology, focusing on systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases. My research is based on the hypothesis that long-term outcomes in these conditions are shaped not only by biological factors, but also by social, economic, and psychological determinants.

Currently, I investigate the risk of somatic and mental health comorbidities and their impact on long-term prognosis. The aim is to generate evidence that supports holistic, evidence-based care to reduce morbidity in people living with systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases.

To address these questions, I use a range of data sources, including national Swedish registers, well-characterised clinical cohorts, randomised controlled trials, survey-based studies, and systematic reviews.

I hold a medical degree (MD) from the University of Chile and obtained my PhD in 2024 from the Division of Rheumatology, Karolinska Institutet. My doctoral work examined the effectiveness of B-cell–targeting biologics on clinical, immunological, and patient-reported outcomes in systemic lupus erythematosus, as well as the effects of pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions on health-related quality of life.
