Alexandra Borin

Alexandra Borin is a specialist physician in gastroenterology and hepatology, currently practicing at Danderyd Hospital. Since November 2023, she has been a doctoral student at Karolinska Institutet, affiliated with Annika Bergquist’s research group at the Department of Medicine, Huddinge.

Alexandra’s research focuses on primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) in combination with inflammatory bowel disease – a complex and rare autoimmune condition where improved understanding of disease mechanisms, prognostic markers, and clinical indicators is crucial for developing more effective treatment strategies.

In her work, Alexandra combines clinical expertise with a methodical and patient-centered research approach. She participates in both clinical studies and published projects on inflammatory bowel disease and gastroenterological treatments, with several co-authorships in leading scientific journals in the field.

Through her dual role as clinician and researcher, Alexandra contributes to strengthening the link between patient care and translational research. Her goal is to advance improved diagnostic tools and treatment methods that can make a tangible difference for patients with chronic gastroenterological diseases.
