Research
During my PhD I studied alterations of non-coding RNAs and chromatin remodelling complexes in lung cancer and paediatric leukaemias. Some non-coding RNAs contain non-canonical, short open reading frames (sORFs) that give rise to small, non-canonical proteins known as microproteins, whose function is still largely unknown. During my postdoc here at Karolinska Institutet I aim to discover microproteins that are involved in cancer processes, such as epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and metastasis, and could therefore be used as novel potential biomarkers or future therapeutic targets for the disease.
