Novel biomarkers in neuroendocrine tumors

Our goal is to identify peptides produced by neuroendocrine tumors and possibly released to the circulation that could be used as diagnostic or prognostic markers. By investigating tumor growth factors that are present in these tumors we can further understand their pathophysiology and tumorigenesis. The expression of well-known and novel receptors may lead to new treatment, as well as new diagnostic tools in nuclear medicine. Finally, Dr. Tsolakis is an interventional endoscopist that has international collaboration with well-established endoscopic centers aiming at the endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors.
