PcBaseSweden - a platform for prostate cancer research

The goal of this project is to further improve the understanding of different aspects of prostate cancer by addressing clinically important issues.

Project description

Background: Prostate cancer (Pca) is the most common cancer among Swedish men, but knowledge remains limited regarding etiological factors, optimal treatment and factors influencing outcomes. The National Quality Register on Prostate Cancer of Sweden (NPCR) comprises more than 130 000 cases of prostate cancer, making it the world's largest clinical data base on Pca. In 2008, the first record linkages between NPCR and other nationwide registries were performed (PcBaSe 1.0), generating a large database which has proven to be an important research platform as reflected in publications in high impact journals. The database was most recently updated in 2013 (PcBaSe 3.0).
