Interview: Anna Rönnbäck

Role: HR responsible / Division: Administration

Don't make excuses for yourself; stand up for who you are.

How long have you been at KI?

Since February 2011.

What did you do before you started at LabMed?

I'm a graduate of the Human Resource Management programme at Umeå University and before coming to KI I worked in recruitment as a recruitment consultant.

What is a typical working day like for you?

My days vary, but they're normally a mix of strategic and operative HR work. A great deal of my work is concerned with providing advice and answering HR-related questions from the department's employees and managers. It also involves participation in various meetings, network gatherings and work with ongoing administrative tasks.

I'm also part of the department's work environment group and this takes up a great deal of my time. We look at important issues that I would love to see more time allocated to and greater commitment.

What do you see as the advantages of working at LabMed?

No two days are the same.

Imagine I have an upcoming interview for a job here. What kind of mistakes would you advise me against?

Don't sit and make excuses for yourself; be bold and stand up for who you are. Don't overlook the importance of a question like "why do you want to be in Laboratory Medicine, and why are you applying for this position in particular?"

What is the most fun part of your job?

Having a day filled with a mix of personal meetings, unexpected events and challenges that require problem-solving and creativity.
