A cohort study of the long-term effect on musculoskeletal pain from repeated stress in working life.

Background

Knowledge about the effect of repeated or long-lasting exposure for risk factors in the work environment on health outcomes as pain, and the long-term consequence of early health problems in the beginning of the career of nurses, is scarce.

Aim

To investigate the long-term effects of repeated exposure from work related stress, and the consequences of illness early in the career on musculoskeletal pain among nurses.

Method

A cohort study with a long-term (6-8 years) follow up of three national cohorts

Significance

In addition to new knowledge about repeated or long-lasting exposure from work related factors for health, we expect that this study will add knowledge about the effect of health problems early in the career on later health.
