Half-time review at FyFa

This page describes the process of half-time review for doctoral students at the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology.

A half-time review needs to be conducted for every doctoral student who intends to complete a doctorate. The half-time review should be carried out two years after admission, or when two years of full-time doctoral education or the equivalent have been completed.

Half-time review at FyFa

Please start by reviewing the general KI rules for half-time review (link to the KI Staff portal).

1. Hand in a proposal for an examination committee

No later than four weeks before the set date for your half-time seminar, you need to have a proposal ready for an examination committee and submit the proposal to the FyFa study administrator for doctoral studies. For this purpose please use the form below and e-mail it to the study administrator.

The proposal should consist of three impartial PhD researchers, who are not involved in the project. You should first contact these to make sure that they are available at the time of the half-time seminar.

The head of the department officially appoints the examination committee.

2. Submit documentation to the examination committee

You or your supervisor should then submit to the members of the examination committee a number of documents related to your doctoral studies. Please consult the KI rules for half-time review (link to the KI Staff Portal) to see which documents should be submitted.

3. Book a room for the half-time seminar

Remember to book a room for the seminar!

4. Announce the half-time seminar in calendar

The half-time review should be announced in the KI and FyFa calendars on the website This is done by the Communications Officer at Fyfa, Charlotte Brandt. Please send her an e-mail with the following information:

  • The date and time for your half-time seminar
  • Venue of the seminar (specify room)
  • The title of your work/your upcoming thesis
  • The name of your supervisor
