Ethio-Swedish Alumni Network with funding from SI (Swedish Institute) has participated on one of the biggest annual mass-participation event in Addis Ababa on the most exciting day of the year. The Great Ethiopian run is a truly epic experience, year after year.
Great Ethiopian Run, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has been using its flagship event, the Great Ethiopian Run 10km International, to support people in need in our community. “Running for a Cause” fundraising campaign serves as the platform to collect donations. Last year they have raised over 1.6 million birr which made the total fund raised in the last five years to over 7.1 Million birr. This year, they have set a fundraising target of 1.7 Million Birr.
Great Ethiopian Run has supported financially and promoted the work of different organizations working with vulnerable children, women and the elderly. Twenty people register for the event however 19 of them have actually participated. Ethio-Swedish Alumni members teamed up with Sele Enat Mahber in support of Orphaned Vulnerable Children and Single mothers. We had also supported Sele Enat Mahber during our annual Cinnamon Buns baking day by giving out Cinnamon Buns to them.
Sele Enat Mahiber (SEM), is an indigenous, not for profit, child-focused, non-governmental organization founded in 2002 G.C, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. SEM works with orphaned and vulnerable children and supports single mothers to be economically self-supportive.
