Gallery: The 21st Annual Mayo Clinic and Karolinska Institutet Joint Research Meeting

The 21th Mayo-KI Annual Scientific Research Meeting took place in Stockholm, September 10-11, 2015. About 130 Mayo Clinic guests travelled overseas to join the meeting, to which about 550 registered in total.

Professor Kerstin Tham, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Karolinska Institutet, opened the event by extending a warm welcome to everyone and highlighting the significance of the broad and comprehensive collaboration. Professor Martin Schalling and Professor Eric Wieben then followed by giving an overview of the latest from the collaboration and announced the project, travel and administration funds for 2016. The Thursday morning plenary session continued with three engaging, interesting and dedicated keynote speakers; Drs Richard L. Ehman from Mayo Clinic, Staffan Holmin from the Karolinska University Hospital/Karolinska Institutet and Michael Snyder from the Stanford University School of Medicine, the 2015 David H. Murdock Lecturer.

The plenary morning session was an inspiring kick start to the rest of the Annual Meeting, which continued with 12 different breakout sessions for one and half days workshops covering a wide range of research topics, as well as education, administration and innovation.

The Friday lunch Keynote Lecture was held by Phil Lombardo from the Mayo Clinic, who introduced the IBM Watson technology to transform research and clinical data into knowledge solutions.
