The Institute of Environmental Medicine (IMM), a department at Karolinska Institutet, is an interdisciplinary research organization with internationally competitive research in the fields of epidemiology, toxicology, physiology and environmental medicine.
Prof. Sten Orrenius, IMM has received the "First International Cell Death Society Pioneer Award" from "Annual International Cell Death Society 2013", for his work in the fields of Cell Death and Redox Reactions.
Tom Bellander has been appointed as adjuncted professor in environmental epidemiology at The Institute of Environmental Medicine, Karolinska Institutet.
Post doc Marc-Andre Verner och prof. Gunnar Johanson have received the "Best paper of the year award" from The Society of Toxicology´s Biological Modelling Specialty Section.
Daniel Borg has received the "SOT Mixtures Specialty Section Best Overall Abstract Award" for his poster "Individual and Cumulative Health Risk Assessment of 17 PFASs in the Swedish population" at Society of Toxicology´s Annual Meeting i Texas.
Bruna Gigante, assoc. professor at IMM, is co-writer of an articel in New England Journal of Medicine that shows an increased risk of ischemic heart disease after radiotherapy for breast cancer.
Anna Beronius and Annika Hanberg at IMM have produced the report "Is it possible to determine thresholds for the effects of endocrine disruptors? A summary of scientific argumentation from 15 relevant publications on endocrine disruption" on commission by the Swedish Chemicals Agency (KemI).
Agneta Åkesson, Associate Professor at IMM is appointed as a member of the Swedish Committee on Nutrition and Health.
