New systematic review and meta-analysis about human-AI interaction in skin cancer diagnosis
Isabelle Krakowski and Hanna Eriksson with colleagues from Stanford University have published an article in npj Digital Medicine about the effect of AI assistance in skin cancer diagnosis. The results indicate that clinicians benefit from AI regardless of training level, with the largest improvement seen in the group with least experience in dermatology. However, few studies were conducted in clinical settings. The researchers encourage future studies to be conducted in the real-life settings where the AI tools are intended to be used in.
Wallenberg Scholar grant to OnkPat
Professor Thomas Helleday receives the Wallenberg Scholar grant for 2024 from Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation. The grant is SEK 20 million divided over five years.
Fernanda Costa Svedman is awarded scholarship for cancer research
Fernanda Costa Svedman, senior consultant in oncology at Karolinska University Hospital and posdoc at the department of Oncology-Pathology receives Pfizers and Svensk Onkologis Förenings scholarship in oncology for postdocs 2024. Fernanda and Carl Herdenberg shares 200 000 SEK. Fernanda receives the scholarship for her research in bladder cancer.
