The Department of Clincal Science and Education (KI SÖS) is located at Södersjukhuset, Stockholm. The department has approximately 50 employees, whereof 5 professors, 80 PhD student and 140 researchers affiliated with the department.
Eva Joelsson-Alm, defended her doctoral thesis on health-care related injuries on the bladder at KI SÖS during 2012. Now she, together with two colleagues from Södersjukhuset, has been awarded Gyllene Äpplet, the Stockholm county councils prize for innovational ideas leading to health care improvement. The jury's motivation was: "For putting the bladder on the map and increasing its status to be a vital parameter equal to pulse and blood pressure."
Christer Svensén has been appointed professor in anaesthesia and intensive care at Karolinska Institutet. Christer started off as a naval officer and is currently a naval doctor in the reserve. He became a MD in 1985 and defended his doctoral thesis on fluid kinetics in 1998. Christer is head of a research group focusing on fluid therapy.
Caroline Nilsson, researcher at KI SÖS, has been awarded 500,000 SEK by Stockholm läns landsting for two years, with the possibility of another two years for her research program "Treatment for life-threatening peanut allergy?"
