Hanna Eriksson has demonstrated socioeconomic differences in survival amongst individuals with malignant skin melanoma in Sweden. Melanoma patients with a lower educational background are much more likely to die of the disease. The study was published in European Journal of Cancer.
Ulla Blom-Goldman and fellow researchers at KI and in Denmark and Britain has demonstrated that exposure of the heart to ionizing radiation during radiotherapy for breast cancer increases the subsequent risk for ischemic heart disease.
