Lower education linked to premature death from malignant skin melanoma
Hanna Eriksson has demonstrated socioeconomic differences in survival amongst individuals with malignant skin melanoma in Sweden. Melanoma patients with a lower educational background are much more likely to die of the disease. The study was published in European Journal of Cancer.
Increased risk of ischemic heart disease after radiotherapy for breast cancer
Ulla Blom-Goldman and fellow researchers at KI and in Denmark and Britain has demonstrated that exposure of the heart to ionizing radiation during radiotherapy for breast cancer increases the subsequent risk for ischemic heart disease.
Klas Wiman will give a lecture within the seminar series Karolinska Institutet Discovers
The 20th of March at 12.00 in Nobel Forum Klas Wiman, together with Sören Lehmann will present the research behind their recent publication: "Targeting p53 in vivo: a first-in human study with p53-targeting compound APR-246 in refractory hematologic malignancies and prostate cancer" in Journal of Clinical Oncology, September 2012.
