About me
- Since February of 2022 I am a doctoral student at Upper GI-Surgery, MMK. My
clinical work is as a surgeon at Södersjukhuset in Stockholm. The last years
I have had an active part in teaching medical students from Karolinska the
fantastic field of surgery. I think that the combination of clinical work,
research and teaching is truly rewarding.
Research
- The focus of my research is to identify modifiable and implementable
prognostic factors related to the surgical treatment with removal of all
(total gastrectomy) or most of the stomach (sub-total gastrectomy). My PhD
project will be based on a nationwide population-based cohort study, entitled
the Swedish Gastric Cancer Surgery Study (SWEGASS), which includes almost all
surgically treated gastric cancer patients in Sweden from year 2006 onwards,
with follow-up for mortality until 2022.
Teaching
- Several years of experience in teaching medical students at Karolinska Institutet. As a student, I was actively involved as a tutor in anatomy and histology. As a clinician, I provide ongoing teaching in clinical placements, seminars, and serve as an examiner. Additionally, I have served as a teaching assistant and currently hold the position of subject coordinator for surgery in the Clinical Medicine - Surgery course, T7, at Karolinska Institutet.
