I have a background in biomedicine and toxicology and joined Victoria’s group as a PhD student in 2014.
My research focuses on identifying genes regulating centrosome inheritance in asymmetric cell division. To do this I use a microscopy-based assay to visualize old and young centrosomes in dividing cells. I combine this technique with high-throughput yeast genetics to dissect the molecular mechanisms controlling centrosome inheritance.
I am also interested in how other proteins are inherited during asymmetrical cell division. In addition to centrosomes, mitochondrial, ER and vacuolar subunits have also been shown to distribute between cells based on their age. We are developing a toolbox to study this phenomenon on a genome-wide scale.
