Biomarkers, Genetics and Epigenetics

Biomarkers play an important role in understanding the kinetics of environmental agents, including the actual internal dose, the relationships between the exposure and the development of diseases, as well as the toxic mechanisms of action and the identification of susceptible subgroups in the population. The research at IMM ranges from measurements of individual exposures and resulting internal doses, through interaction studies of toxicants with molecular targets to the development of early disease indicators and health disorders.
