South Africa-Sweden University Forum (SASUF)
The South Africa-Sweden University Forum (SASUF) is a strategic internationalisation project running from 2017-2021 with the overall aim of strengthening ties between Sweden and South Africa in research, education and innovation.
SASUF is a collaboration between 36 universities in Sweden & South Africa together with embassies, civil society organisations, funding agencies & ministries in both countries. As from September 2018 Karolinska Institutet is a part of the project.
SASUF is aiming at connecting universities with funding agencies, industry, ministries and society in Sweden and South Africa in working towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Karolinska Institutet is one of the 13 Swedish universities participating in the project, coordinated by Uppsala University.
- Research and innovation weeks (2019 in South Africa and 2020 in Sweden)

Researchers and senior management teams at Swedish universities have the opportunity to participate in the research and innovation weeks of 2019 and 2020.
Researchers also have the opportunity to apply for collaboration funding and to contribute to the interactive platform.
In Sweden SASUF is funded by STINT (Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher Education) and the 13 participating Swedish universities. In South Africa the project is funded by the National Research Foundation and the Department of Higher Education and Training.
