Stipendierna beviljas för mellan en till 12 månaders tid, och är avsedda för att utgöra en ersättning för de merkostnader som gästen ådrar sig genom att förlägga sin verksamhet till Sverige.

Stiftelsen Serafimerlasarettet, grundad genom enskild offervillighet och i verksamhet sedan 1752, har till uppgift att främja medicinsk forskning och utbildning av läkare samt ändamål, som har samband med Serafimerlasarettets historia. Stiftelsen utdelar medel för medicinsk forskning med tydlig klinisk inriktning och som bedrivs av yngre forskare (högst 45 års ålder eller högst 10 år efter disputation) vid Karolinska Institutet. Totalt utdelas ca 120 tkr som fördelas mellan 3-4 forskare.

EFSD/Sanofi European pilot research grants for innovative measurement of diabetes outcomes

The European Foundation for the Study of Diabetes, in association with Sanofi, invites applications for its European pilot research grants for innovative measurement of diabetes outcomes. This encourages new projects advancing current knowledge and helps to develop innovative means to document and validate novel parameters indicative of long-term benefits for patients with diabetes. Proposals may include the validation of behavioural, biological and disease management metrics to complement glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) in defining the quality of the long term management of diabetes.

European research programme in microvascular complications of diabetes

The European Foundation for the Study of Diabetes, under the European Association for the Study of Diabetes, in collaboration with Boehringer Ingelheim, invites applications for its European research programme in microvascular complications of diabetes. Proposals dealing with investigations of various cell types in the eye and kidney and their role and interaction during the course of development of diabetic retinopathy and diabetic nephropathy are prioritised.

The European Foundation for the Study of Diabetes, in association with Sanofi, invites applications for its European diabetes research programme in macrovascular complications. This aims to advance current knowledge and to stimulate and accelerate European research on macrovascular complications. Grants are offered for basic or clinical mechanistic studies. Innovative studies including use of advance stem cell approaches are particularly welcome, whereas studies involving classical animal models of macrovascular disease will not be considered.

ERA PerMed: Research projects on personalised medicine – smart combination of pre-clinical and clinical research with data and ICT solutions

ERA PerMed is a new ERA-Net Cofund, supported by 31 partners of 22 countries and cofunded by the European Commission. The first call for proposals will provide support for projects that show the clinical feasibility of personalised medicine in complex diseases, including multifactorial, monogenetic and other diseases. Proposals must be interdisciplinary and clearly demonstrate the potential impact in personalised medicine as well as the added value of transnational collaboration. Each project needs to combine pre-clinical or clinical research with bio-informatics components to enable data quality on one side and the potential applicability for health care providers on the other side. Consortia submitting proposals must involve at least three partners from three different countries.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) invites applications investigating the cellular and molecular mechanisms by which alcohol increases cancer risk. AIDS-related FOA. Target sites for alcohol-related carcinogenesis include the upper aerodigestive tract, breast, liver and colon. A better understanding of the molecular basis by which alcohol increases cancer risk for certain tissues and organs could lead to improved therapeutic approaches and preventative strategies and would provide guidance on safe levels of alcohol consumption.

The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America invites applications for its senior research awards. These provide established researchers with funds to generate sufficient preliminary data to become competitive for funds from other sources, such as the NIH. This supports pre-clinical and clinical research that aims to advance treatments for Friedreich's Ataxia.
