For the seventh year in a row, Karolinska Institutet’s Global Master’s Scholarship has been awarded to Master’s students from outside Europe. This year, nine of 1,500 applicants were presented with their scholarship, worth between SEK 180,000 and 360,000.  The president Ole Petter Ottersen presented the scholarships at a ceremony held on 25 October in Aula Medica.

The scholarships cover the students’ tuition fees and the money comes from the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR). The scholarship is entirely qualification-based and considers the student’s grades, work experience, research experience and a motivational letter that the students write themselves and attach to their applications.

Students from all over the world

Over 3,600 students from 135 countries applied to KI’s global master’s programme beginning in autumn 2018.  The nine Master’s students who received this year’s scholarships are all non-EU students. They are Itisha Adhikari, Indien, Tetiana Poliakova, USA, Hayley French, Kanada, Snehal Patil, Indien, Jing Zhang, Kina, Arin Karlina, Indonesien, Blessings Chisunkha, Malawi, Roselyne Akugizibwe, Uganda och Qing Chen, Kina.
