KI Foundation Grants for Rheumatology Research

Karolinska Institutet hereby invites applications for joint research funding from KI’s Foundation for Rheumatology Research, the Alfhild Aquilin and Karl Bensen Memorial Foundation, and the Gösta and Karin Wahmans Memorial Foundation.


The purpose of these foundations is to support research within the field of rheumatology at Karolinska Institutet.


Eligible to apply are researchers, affiliated to Karolinska Institutet, and with a doctoral degree earned no more than 7 years ago. The time limit may be extended with a maximum of 24 months (equivalent to full-time) compensating for clinical activity, parental leave, military service or long-term sick leave.


The available amount is approximately 1,350,000 SEK. Awarded grants varies between 100,000  and 300,000 SEK per person. You can never get more than the requested amount.


Applications must be submitted digitally. The online  form will be available in KI Prisma during the application period, October 2 – 16, 2018. The application period closes 2.00 pm.


The application must contain:

  • A research description, of about 4-5 A pages
  • A publication list that specify up to five papers that have been published during the last five years. 


Decision of grant will be taken by the Committee of Research. All applicants will be notified by e-mail in December.


As from 2018, a report on the usage of the granted funds will be required. After the end of the term, you will need to login to Prisma and confirm whether you have used the money, or at least have started using the money, or not. If you have not used the money at all during the disposition period, these should be returned to the Foundations and Funds.

Reports are submitted via Prisma about 12 months after the money has been paid, except for travel benefits where reporting takes place approximately one month after the end of the term. You will receive an email notification when it is time to report.
