Karolinska Institutet is searching for a Scientific Director at SciLifeLab

SciLifeLab is a national center for molecular biosciences with focus on health and environmental research. SciLifeLab is a national resource and a collaboration between four universities: Karolinska Institutet, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm University and Uppsala University. The center combines frontline technical expertise with advanced knowledge of translational medicine and molecular bioscience. Each host university appoints a Scientific Director and Karolinska Institutet now announces an assignment as Scientific Director at SciLifeLab.
The assignment is to, in collaboration with others, represent the Karolinska Institutet in SciLifeLab and coordinate KI's participation at different levels and support KI's leadership on SciLifeLab issues. An important task is to be a link between SciLifeLab and various parts of Karolinska Institutet, with a broad contact area for KI's institutions. The person who holds the assignment as Scientific Director will represent Karolinska Institutet externally in the relevant context.
The assignment as Scientific Director must be combined with an existing employment at KI. The contractor must have documented good management and cooperation skills. The contractor must also have documented good scientific and methodological knowledge in molecular biology research focusing on molecular technologies and their applications.
The assignment is limited to three years with the possibility of extension. The assignment should be taken on January 1, 2018. The assignment comprises 20 percent of a full-time job. The assignment as Scientific Director should not be combined with other senior positions or assignments within SciLifeLab. In order to fulfill the mission as Scientific Director, regular attendance at SciLifeLab in Solna is required.
The applications are reviewed by a small group appointed and chaired by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Karin Dahlman-Wright. The Vice-Chancellor appoints the contractor on a proposal from the group.
