From vision to strategy

Denna sida på svenska

During the spring, work commenced to create a new strategic plan for KI, Strategy 2030. The long-term perspective enables us to take on challenges and broaden our thinking.

This process begun with the development of a proposal for a vision and long-term goals. The Board of Karolinska Institutet has tasked President Ole Petter Ottersen with leading this work. The President is supported by a working group in formulating the vision and long-term goals. In addition, a number of internal and external groups and individuals is involved in the process. The purpose is to ensure that all parts of our university can contribute important input and that all perspectives are taken into consideration.

Proposals for the vision will be presented by the summer, with work to identify and formulate concrete strategies that begun in August. This work will be broadly anchored and many working groups at various levels will be engaged. As a member of staff, you represent an important link in creating a vision that is thoroughly and solidly grounded in all areas of the organisation. By participating you will be involved in defining KI’s role in society, now and in the future.

Main starting points

The current Strategy 2018 is currently being followed up and the results of this review will be dealt with as part of our ongoing work. The staff survey and management visits to departments conducted in the autumn will also be important in preparing decision-making documentation. As a university, KI has a global responsibility and our strategic work is based on the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, with the agenda’s global goals in areas such as education and health for all.

The road forward

A transparent process for formulating KI’s vision and goals, and that these should be firmly anchored in the organisation at all stages; these are the ambitions as work on our new strategy progresses. Work is being led by President Ole Petter Ottersen with administrative support and process management from Central Administration.

Administrative support

The strategy process has administrative support from the University Administration.
