The Sjöberg Prize is an annual international prize for cancer research awarded to scientists who have made major contributions to our knowledge about disease mechanisms, risk factors, or the treatment or prevention of cancer.

The Sjöberg Prize 2018, worth one million US dollars, has been awarded by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences to cancer researchers Zhu Chen, Anne Dejean and Hugues de Thé “for the clarification of molecular mechanisms and the development of a revolutionary treatment for acute promyelocytic leukaemia.”

The Sjöberg Prize Lectures are organized by Karolinska Institutet and the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences with support from the Sjöberg Foundation.

The event is free of charge and open to the public. Registration is not required.
