The Brain Awareness Week (BAW) is a global campaign aimed at raising public awareness about the benefits of brain research and the research progress that is being made. The Brain Awareness Week was organized for the first time in Sweden in September 2016, under the name Hjärnfestivalen, and it was a great success. As demand for follow-up was high, it was decided that another Brain Awareness Week will be arranged during 10-14 March 2018 in different locations throughout central Stockholm, including Kulturhuset, ABF-huset, Stadsbiblioteket and Tekniska museet. The general public can attend different activities such as exhibitions, interactive activities, film shows, panel discussions, short research lectures, hands-on neuroscience research and will also be given the opportunity to meet and ask questions directly to researchers and non-researchers (including patients).

The organisers of Brain Awareness Week are now looking for talented undergraduate students, doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows who are interested in neuroscience and want to discuss the benefits of neuroscience research and progress with the general public. All volunteers are welcome, both English and Swedish speaking and there will be opportunity to further practice outreach skills before the festival.
