Next week’s symposium ”Future Perspectives in Tumor Biology”, June 17-18 to celebrate the 180 years’ birthday of Eva and George Klein will be streamed live over internet, if you want to follow the lectures (thanks to sponsorhip from StratCan). You will find a link to the live lectures on June 17-18 at, where also the program will be available from Monday June 15. Speakers include Harald zur Hausen, Douglas Hanahan, Suzanne Cory, Gerard Evan, Lenny Guarante, Mina Bissell, Mathias Uhlén and Andy Feinberg. On this site you can also register for the opening concert and lectures (incl Svante Pääbo) on June 16 at 18.00, which is free and there might be 3-4 slots still available to register for the conference (costs 2000 SEK). Without registration you will not get access to the lecture hall.

Deadline for applications to the SciLife Translational community has been extended to Wednesday June 10.

NOTE!! All who plan to present a poster has to submit an abstract before this deadline.

The retreat is open for all KI students, post-docs and supervisors with an interest in cancer research and in the KICancer-network program, its current and future activities.
The program will include key note lectures and presentations of exciting re­search projects in cancer biology, clinical cancer research, cancer care research and cancer epidemiology, poster sessions etc. This year’s keynote speakers are among others; Matthew G van der Heiden, MIT and Olli Kallioniemi, FIMM and SciLife.

Everyone is encouraged to present a poster or to apply for a slot for a short talk (10 minutes).

A registration fee of SEK 800.- will be charged which cover part of costs for housing (students have to share room) and meals including also bus transport from the Cityterminal to Djurönäset and back, The remaining costs are sub-sidized by the PhD-program FoTO and StratCan.

Posters: Size 80 x150 cm portrait. Abstracts for “oral” and poster to be submit­ted to not later than August 15, 2015. Use the at­tached template.

Oral presentations: Abstracts (max one page) to be submitted to not later than August 15, 2015.

The European EBV-meeting June 15-16

This symposium on Epstein-Barr virus and its related diseases takes place on Monday and Tuesday June 15-16 in lecture hall Andreas Vesalius in the Berzelius-laboratory. Registration deadline has passed, but if you are interested to attend lectures contact for program information.

Facebook group

The FoTO program has set up a Facebook group to facilitate the spreading spread of information about our activities and to receive feedbacks from the highly dynamic group of doctoral students and post-docs. If you are interest, please look for the KIcancer group and ask to join it to the administrator.

The new homepage for KICancer is now launched. You’ll find it among ”Research networks” and the link is In order to have an up-to-date homepage with interesting information we need input from you and also comments if there is something missing or a links that do not work.

When you want to highlight a conference, a seminar or other news this can be announced on the first, front page. Send your material to Our ambition is that the home page shall reflect the multitude of the KICancer network, the fifferent departmental environments and the wide variety of disciplines. Photos of medical discoveries and people from our different departments are also welcome contributions.

The list of ”Researchers” is not complete. We are willing to include everyone who is (officially) recognized as leading a research group (”group leader”). Check the list and if you have not been included so far and send your information to Yvonne Strandberg. Make sure your KI Profile page is up-to-date and informative.
