About me

 I am a Post Doctoral researcher in Prof. Agneta Nordberg group. My area of research is the in-vitro characterization of new positron emission tomography (PET) tracers for alpha 7 nicotinic acid receptors.  I defended my thesis in Biochemistry with the specialization of molecular neurodegenerative disorders at Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli, India with the supervision of  Dr. Anusuyadevi Jayachandran. The focus of my Ph.D. was to determine the influence of cholesterol and isoprenoids in the amyloidogenic cleavage of APP in swedish mutant APP transfected cell lines and the role of SIRT1 in  APP metabolism.

Research description

Our interest is to characterize the new  PET tracers for alpha 7 nicotinic acid receptors in the cell lines transfected with different subtypes of nicotinic acid receptors and in the post mortem brain tissues by using receptor binding studies and autoradiography techniques. This will provide a clue for pursuing the investigations to define the detailed mechanism of alpha 7 nicotinic acid receptors in the significance of Alzheimer’s disease in translational research.
