Dr. Reza Salman Roghani graduated from Shahid Beheshti Medical University, Tehran, Iran in 1998. He completed a residency in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation Shiraz University of Medical Science and earned Iran PMR Board Certification in 2002. He applied for a research fellow in Mayo Clinic USA in 2009 and also passed clinical complementary courses in the spine and Musculoskeletal medicine which is approved as a clinical fellowship by Iran ministry of health. He is the first fellowship graduate in the field of PMR in Iran. Academically, he is associate professor of PM&R at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences now. Dr. Salman Roghani is professional in the field of neuromuscular sonography and interventional pain management. He is also a Ph.D. student in the Karolinska Institutet since autumn 2014.

As the number of old age continues to rise, frailty and chronic diseases which are usually accompanying pain will likely increase. Uncontrolled pain is associated with loss of physical function, increased depression and greater mood disturbances. Pain disorders could be classified according to the pathophysiologic mechanisms lofNociceptive pain arises from somatic primary afferent activation, and Neuropathic pain (NeP) which is generated from damage or dysfunction to the nervous system . Entrapment syndromes such as carpal tunnel syndrome(CTS) is a common source of NeP and older patients appear to be at risk for having more severe cases of CTS when they are diagnosed .
