Research description

In 2008, during my Bachelor training period, I started working with the Monoarthritis inflammatory pain model in the rat. There, I have explored many signalling pathways at the dorsal root ganglia (DRG) level and the role of specific molecules in pain processing at the periphery. Already during my Master I started focusing on the crcucial involvement of satellite glial cells (SGC) to pain, as well as their communication with neurons. The overlaping mechanisms between inflammation and neuropathic pain were always a strong interest during my PhD as they can surely help elucidate pain transmission. After finishing my PhD I came to the KI as a post-doc at Camilla Svensson´s group. Camilla´s lab also aims to study pain signalling in novel animal models of inflammation giving additional attention to the immune system contribution.
