About me

I am Haris Charalampos Antypas and I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Richter-Dahlfors group at the Swedish Medical Nanoscience Center.

I am an innovation-driven microbiologist with experience in assay development for research and diagnostics. During my doctoral studies I learned how to work seamlessly across different disciplines and identify opportunities in emerging technologies in order to improve healthcare. By combining microbiology with microfabricated devices and optical tools I have worked on the following projects:

1. A rapid antibiotic susceptibility testing assay using a miniaturized nanotiter plate and algorithm-assisted analysis
2. Real-time studies of host-pathogen interactions in a microfluidic model of the renal proximal tubule
3. FACS-based selection of single bacterial mutants and subsequent high-resolution phenotypic screening on a miniaturized device
4. A rapid diagnostic assay for biofilm-related infections using luminescence conjugated polymers

 

Academic honours, awards and prizes

Recipient of the €50k Gold Award of the PhD Transition Fellowship Programme from EIT Health to accelerate the development of a diagnostic assay for biofilm-related infections
