One would imagine that there is a large gap between practising surgery and the art of being an entrepreneur in biomedicine, but not for Hao Wang. He worked as a surgeon in China for a year and even held a Master's Degree in Medical Diagnostics before starting his studies at the Master's Programme in Bioentrepreneurship at Karolinska Institutet (KI).

'Research and business belong together and we need both of them if we want to grow. I like being a researcher but I don't want to be stuck in the laboratory all week. Studying here gives me new perspectives.'

Hao Wang likes meeting new people, travelling and negotiating business deals. He makes no amends about being interested in doing business and making money, in a trade that is expanding fast.

Sure, I could work as a surgeon in Sweden but it would take time to learn all the medical terms in Swedish. I think it would be easier and faster for me to get a job within the private sector. And I would very much like to stay and work in Sweden.'

He has already had contact with several Swedish companies and hopes to get a job in the near future.

Sweden has many fantastic projects going on within biomedicine and biotechnology while China has the money to finance these kinds of projects. By combining Chinese money and Swedish entrepreneurship we can get the best of two worlds.
