Action Plan for Internationalisation 

Internationalisation is the theme for the Lärardag 2015 and will focus on the implementation of goals 1 and 2 of KI:s Action Plan for Internationalisation of First and Second Cycle Education.

Goal 1: Matters relating to global health are to be integrated into the compulsory components of all study programmes at Karolinska Institutet

Goal 2: All study programmes are to offer at least one compulsory course delivered in English carrying 7.5 credit points or more by 2017. All students are thus to take at least one course that is delivered in English during their academic studies at Karolinska Institutet


The definitions below are taken from KI:s Action Plan for Internationalisation of First and Second Cycle Education. 

  • Internationalisation: “…the process of integrating an international, intercultural or global dimension into the purpose, functions or delivery of higher education”. (Knight 2009, 7 )
  • Global Health:“The area of study, research and practice that places a priority on improving health and achieving equity in health for all people worldwide …it emphasises transnational health issues, determinants, and solutions; involves many disciplines within and beyond the health sciences and promotes interdisciplinary collaboration; and is a synthesis of population-based prevention with individual-level clinical care”. An Introduction to Global Health MOOC

In Q1 2016 KI will offer the MOOC An Introduction to Global Health through the educational platform edX. Among the instructors: Hans Rosling, Anna Mia Ekströn and Helena Nordenstedt who will all be speaking at Lärardagen 2015.
