Master's Courses in Dementia Care

This unique opportunity is offered in cooperation with Stiftelsen Silviahemmet and participants who complete the training will earn the title of Silvialäkare (Silvia Doctor), Silviaarbetsterapeut (Silvia Occupational therapist) or Silviafysioterapeut (Silvia Physiotherapist). The diploma and the official pin of completion will be presented by H. M. Queen Silvia of Sweden at the graduation ceremony.
Dementia diseases are costly and often long-term and those diagnosed with it are in great need of medical expertise and quality care. The Master's Courses in Dementia Care focus on research and best practices, and prepare you to interact with dementia patients in a professional manner.
After completing the courses, you will have a deeper understanding of dementia as a whole and increased proficiency in dealing with dementia patients in all phases of the disease. The goal is to enable you to contribute to the development of effective and quality-assured dementia care in your organisation.
Learning at your convenience
This web-based training is focused on interactive, student-centered learning. Short online lectures are broadcast via our web-based learning platform. The lectures are supplemented with individual studies and exercises based on real patient cases and practical assignments.
You will also be given short reading assignments and other exercises, closely related to your clinical practice, to enable you to use the results in your everyday work.

Stiftelsen Silviahemmet was founded by H.M. Queen Silvia of Sweden in 1996. Silviahemmet works with care and education as well as promoting research in the field of dementia - aiming at the highest possible quality of life regardless of the severity of the disease. Together with the Stockholm Gerontology Research Centre, Silviahemmet leads the national competence center, the Swedish Dementia Centre.
Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society
This unique opportunity is provided by the Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society (NVS) at Karolinska Institutet. About one third of Karolinska Institutet´s students at undergraduate and advanced level carry out their education at the Department of NVS.
